Egg Addling might be a good idea if you don’t want any more geese next year but will not get rid of your current geese. Egg addling is performed by shaking the eggs in the nest. This will cause the young embryo to die. If you break the eggs the bird will obviously die but the mother might lay more to replace them.

Another way to prevent the survival of the eggs is to coat them with mineral oil. This will stop the air from getting into the egg resulting in death. This will also trick the mother into thinking the eggs are still healthy.

Be careful when trying to touch a goose’s nest because as you might already know they will charge at humans. If the bird spreads its wings and starts making hissing sounds it will most likely charge at you.

So let’s say you have a business and there is already a nest on your property. The gander (male goose) could charge at your customers. The best practice is to set up orange cones, shopping carts, or caution signs to warn people of the nest.
